On 1st September 2023 the criteria for NHS funded storage will come into line with the current NHS criteria for treatment cycles.   Please see our news page for further details.

The Assisted Conception Unit is located in Ward 35 in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, Scotland.

Ninewells is an NHS Teaching Hospital and we provide treatment on both an NHS and self-funded basis. We have been carrying out assisted conception treatment since the early 1980s when John Mills and Geoff James established the Unit and developed it into one of the largest centres in Scotland, opening in its present location in Ward 35 in 1994.  The first baby born from IVF treatment in Scotland was born in 1984.

The Unit is staffed by a multi-disciplinary professional team of medical, nursing, scientific and administrative staff. A replacement ACU was completed in 2012. A new extension including our theatre, laboratory, procedure rooms and offices opened on 14th November 2011. Following this, Ward 35 was refurbished to provide new consulting and scanning rooms, an andrology lab, recovery bay, reception and waiting area and we moved in on 13th March 2012.
